United Breweries Limited Halts Supply of Seven Types of Beer to Telangana

United Breweries Limited (UBL) has halted the supply of beer to Telangana, resulting in a complete stoppage of seven different varieties of beer in the state. In a statement, the company explained that this decision was necessitated by the financial losses it has been incurring due to beer prices remaining unchanged for the past five years.

Today, UBL representatives met with the Telangana Excise Commissioner and submitted a formal letter informing the government of their decision to halt the supply of all varieties of beer to the state. The letter cited repeated but unsuccessful requests for a price increase, stating that the lack of government response has led to significant financial losses for the company. UBL confirmed that this decision would take effect immediately.
