Janhvi Kapoor Stands Up for 'Pushpa-2' Amid IMAX Theater Controversy
Several netizens questioned the decision to prioritize a regional Indian film over a Hollywood classic. Reacting to one such post, Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor strongly defended Pushpa-2 and expressed her disappointment at the constant devaluation of Indian cinema by its own audience.
"Pushpa-2 is a film too. Comparing it unfairly and demeaning it is not justified. While you support Hollywood movies, they have started appreciating our cinema. Yet, we continue to undervalue our own films, which is disheartening to see," Janhvi said.
The controversy comes amidst Pushpa-2's record-breaking success in Bollywood, with the film earning an unprecedented ₹72 crore on its opening day in the Hindi market. This marks the highest opening day collection for any Hindi film, surpassing Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan, which earned ₹65.5 crore.
Meanwhile, Janhvi Kapoor is carving her space in Telugu cinema with her debut in Devara, alongside Jr. NTR. Her performance and on-screen presence have garnered praise, with the film still in production. Additionally, Janhvi has secured a role in Ram Charan’s upcoming movie, directed by Buchi Babu Sana, known for his work on Uppena. The film, tentatively titled RC 16, recently commenced shooting and features music by Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman.
