EC announces Munugode by-election schedule

Hyderabad, October 3: The Election Commission of India on Monday announced schedule for Munugode by-election. Notification for by-poll will be released on October 7, polling will take place on November 3 and counting of votes on November 6. Along with Munugode, elections will be held to seven Assembly constituencies throughout India.
 
Election for Munugode necessitated with the resignation of Congress MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy. He quit the Congress and joined the BJP. While the Congress finalised the name of Palvai Sravanthi, daughter of senior party leader late Palvai Govardhan Reddy.  
 
Ruling TRS decided to field Kusukuntla Prabhakar Reddy once again but officially his name was not declared. A triangular contest is expected for Munugode bypoll. To drum up support for their candidates, the BJP, Congress and TRS conducted public meetings. With the announcement of poll schedule, important state leaders of all three parties will stay in Munugode to focus on campaigns.
