AP govt urged RBI to bifurcate DCCBs from 13 to 26: Minister Kakani

New Delhi, September 8: Andhra Pradesh Minister for Agriculture and Cooperation Kakani Govardhan Reddy participated in the two-day national conference of State Cooperation Ministers begin here on Thursday. Speaking to the media, he said that the AP government sought Reserve Bank of India’s permission to bifurcate District Cooperative Central Banks (DCCBs) from 13 to 26 so that new districts can have DCCBs.

Kakani said that he urged Union Home and Cooperative Minister Amit Shah to extend cooperation for AP for strengthening cooperative societies. He mentioned that the state government is infusing Rs 295 crore as capital to pull out some DCCBs from losses and liquidating a few loss-making Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS).

To a question, the minister stated that it is an insult for him to respond to allegations levelled by a politician, referring to TDP national general secretary Nara Lokesh, who even did win as an MLA. He objected the language used by Lokesh against Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy in a public meeting.
