Hyd: Narayana College student sets himself on fire in principal’s office over fee row

Hyderabad, August 19: A student, Narayana Swamy, of Narayana Junior College set himself on fire with petrol in principal’s office as latter allegedly rejected to issue Transfer Certificate (TC) over non-payment of fees at Ramanthapur here on Friday afternoon. 
 
Narayana Swamy caught principal Sudhakar Reddy as flames went up from his body. Administrative Officer Ashok Reddy, who came to the rescue of principal, also suffered minor burn injuries. Immediately, college staff shifted student and Sudhakar to Burns Ward of the Gandhi Government Hospital.
 
The police registered a case and took up investigation. According to reports, altercation broke between the injured student and principal two days ago over not paying fees. On Friday morning, principal allegedly humiliated Narayana Swamy in front of other students. The police are probing as to why Swamy was targeted by principal when seven other students did not pay the fees. Cops are suspecting that Swamy resorted to extreme step in a state of humiliation.
