Chalo Nellore: Ex-TDP minister Somireddy placed under house arrest

Nellore, July 14: The police placed former TDP minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy under house arrest on Thursday here to stop him from participating ‘Chalo Nellore’ protest against death of Udayagiri Narayana, a Dalit.

Talking to a reporter, Somireddy made Podalakur SI responsible for death of Narayana. “The SI booked a false theft case against deceased,” he alleged and demanded that Nellore SP should dismiss the SI and register a criminal case against him.

The TDP leader stated that a FIR was filed against the SI in Podalakur police station two months ago for assaulting farmer Srinivas Reddy. He sought justice Narayana’s family members, who have become orphans with his death. He faulted cops for preventing TDP MLA Swamy and former TDP MLA Sunil from attending Chalo Nellore.

Somireddy expressed surprise over deployment of thousands of police personnel to thwart Chalo Nellore. “The TDP wants to stage peaceful stir in support of Narayana,” he mentioned.
