Fisherfolk of AP, Telangana pelt stones at each other over fishing at Nagarjunasagar

Hyderabad/Amaravati: A clash took place between fishermen belonging to both the Telugu states on Monday. A heated argument ensued between the fishermen of two states over fishing in the Nagarjunasagar backwaters, which led to a confrontation. During this process, fishermen from both the states attacked by pelting stones at each other. The incident took place in the border area of the two states in the backwaters of Sagar.

Fishermen from both the states have been fishing in the Sagar backwaters for a long time. In this sequence, the Andhra Pradesh fishermen, who went on fishing with the ring nets on Monday, were stopped by the Telangana fishermen. The AP fishermen were asked not to do fishing with ring nets. In the process, tension escalated between the two groups of fisherfolk. Therefore, the two groups attacked each other with stones.

Several AP fishermen were injured in the attack. At the same time, six fishermen from AP were taken to Chandampet in the Nalgonda district. On receiving the information, the AP police went there and released the AP fishermen. However, fishermen belonging to both the Telugu states calmed down with the entry of the police.
