Man dies as battery of new electric scooter explodes at Vijayawada

Vijayawada, April 23: A person died and his wife and two children have suffered serious injuries when a battery of newly purchased electric scooter exploded in the early hours of Saturday at Gulabi Thota of Suryaraopeta in Vijayawada. The deceased identified as Siva Kumar, who worked as a DTP operator. He succumbed to injuries while he was being shifted to a hospital. His wife and children are undergoing treatment in the private hospital. 
 
According to reports, Siva Kumar had bought a new e-bike on Friday. He removed the battery from the e-scooter and kept it charging in one room and all the family members slept in the room behind. People residing near Siva Kumar’s house woke up on hearing explosion. By the time ambulance arrived, all the family members suffered burns and inhaled smoke. Siva Kumar’s wife health condition stated to be critical. The police registered a case and took up investigation.
