Exert pressure on Centre for inclusion of Valmikis, Boyas in ST list: Nara Lokesh demands CM Jagan

TDP national general secretary Nara Lokesh demanded that Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy should exert pressure on the Modi government for securing ST status to Valmikis and Boyas of the state. In a letter sent to the CM, he brought to his notice that resolutions were passed by Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly and Council, and Cabinet on December 15, 2017 for including both communities in ST list and the same was forwarded to the Centre.
 
Lokesh has stated that the Ministry of Tribal Affairs had sought more information related to Valmikis and Boyas. “The TDP government had provided required information asked by the Centre on September 5, 2018,” he mentioned.
 
Since then, the file is pending with the Central government, he said and urged the CM to continue the efforts of the previous state government. He also reminded that Y.S. Jagan as Leader of the Opposition had assured to grant ST status to both communities.
