'No need to pay attention': KTR on sister Kavitha floating new party
Hyderabad, April 27 : Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao on Monday said that political parties come and go, reacting to the formation of Telangana Rashtra Sena by his sister K. Kavitha.
"Parties come and go. There is no need to pay much attention to it," he said while replying to queries at a press conference here.
Referring to certain remarks made by Kavitha about BRS president and former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), KTR said that many people speak about KCR and there is no need to pay attention to such comments either.
KTR was briefing the media on the valedictory meeting of the BRS party’s silver jubilee celebrations, presided over by KCR at the party headquarters, Telangana Bhavan.
The BRS strongly condemned remarks made in Parliament by BJP MP Tejasvi Surya, who allegedly compared the formation of Telangana with the creation of Pakistan. KTR termed the remarks an insult to the self-respect of the people of Telangana.
He criticised both Congress and BJP MPs from Telangana for remaining silent in Parliament despite such statements. KTR said that had there been a BRS MP, an immediate and strong response would have been ensured on the floor of the House.
KTR said that he personally spoke to Tejasvi Surya over the phone, conveying strong objections and stating that the remarks were inappropriate and hurtful. He added that the BJP MP issued a clarification only after the BRS raised the issue.
MPs, MLAs, MLCs, along with state executive committee members, district presidents, heads of affiliated associations, former MPs, former MLCs, former MLAs, former corporation chairpersons and former Zilla Parishad chairpersons attended the meeting.
KTR said that KCR provided comprehensive direction to the party leadership and cadre, extended greetings on the party’s Formation Day, and expressed gratitude to all those who contributed to the Telangana movement.
He also announced the appointment of senior leader Jeevan Reddy as the party’s General Secretary.
KTR said that KCR elaborated on the conditions that prevailed in Telangana prior to the formation of the state and the political landscape of that period. He highlighted KCR's 25-year-long struggle, marked by determination and strategic use of positions and resignations, which ultimately led to the achievement of statehood.
KTR expressed concern over the hardships faced by farmers, stating that Telangana is once again witnessing an agricultural crisis similar to the pre-statehood period.
He cited issues such as power cuts, farmer suicides, seed and fertiliser shortages, and delays in paddy procurement.
The BRS working president accused the Congress government of mis-governance, stating that a state once recognised for development is now being pushed towards disorder. He alleged that Telangana is being turned into “number one” in illegal land grabs and house demolitions.
He further criticised the government’s inability to effectively implement drinking water schemes like Mission Bhagiratha and questioned the lack of decisive action in paddy procurement.
KTR said that KCR has directed a complete focus on party restructuring. All party committees, except the State Executive Committee, have been dissolved, and new committees will be constituted soon.
The meeting passed a resolution demanding unrestricted paddy procurement across the state and warned of a statewide agitation if issues persist.
KTR also criticised Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, urging him to maintain the dignity of his office and refrain from personal attacks.
He alleged that the Chief Minister lacks understanding of policy matters and resorts to abusive language instead of constructive debate. KTR dismissed claims about the BRS party’s relevance, stating that the Congress itself has struggled nationally for over a decade.
He further accused the Chief Minister of failing to honour promises made to farmers, including loan waivers sworn in the name of deities at Basara, Yadagirigutta and Jogulamba temples.
