Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan Flags Terror Concerns, Seeks Action from Police, Administration
Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has written to the State Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police urging heightened vigilance across all districts concerning potential terrorist activities and their sympathizers. Emphasizing national security, Pawan Kalyan issued several directives to the police and administrative departments, stating that following Operation Sindoor, the situation demands constant alertness and coordination among relevant agencies.

Referring to a recent case in Vizianagaram, where intelligence agencies from the Telugu states identified and arrested a youth for alleged links to the Islamic State and conspiring to orchestrate bombings, Pawan Kalyan stressed the need for more stringent measures by the state police. He directed that authorities across districts should immediately become alert to the presence and movements of terrorist sympathizers, sleeper cells, illegal immigrants, and Rohingyas. He instructed officials to report any such signs to senior authorities for comprehensive investigation.

Pawan Kalyan specifically called for special surveillance units in coastal districts, highlighting the state's extensive coastline and the necessity of focused attention on maritime vigilance and coastal protection. He cited the Pahalgam terror attacks and subsequent developments as justification for proactive measures to safeguard the country’s internal security. He urged an in-depth investigation based on existing intelligence on illegal immigrants and terrorist sympathizers in the state.

He emphasized the importance of sustained vigilance concerning individuals previously involved in terrorist activities within Andhra Pradesh, particularly in the Uttarandhra, Godavari, and tribal districts. Measures should be implemented to detect the presence of sleeper cells and sympathizers of extremist ideologies. He instructed that suspicious activities must be monitored and that authorities should continuously submit reports on urgent actions taken to the state government.

In his letter, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan made a special mention of the Rohingya community. He demanded a thorough investigation into their presence in districts such as Guntur and others. He expressed concern over reports that some Rohingyas possess documents such as ration cards, Aadhaar cards, and voter IDs. He posed specific questions for investigation: whether the suspects possess any government-issued identification; how they obtained such documents; who provided them shelter; who is facilitating their stay; and which individuals or organizations are supporting them.

He called for immediate action, treating national and public security as top priorities. Recalling incidents from previous years, including National Investigation Agency (NIA) operations in Guntur and the Rayalaseema region, Pawan Kalyan advised the police to factor these into current assessments. He stated that national security and defense are of utmost importance and that the state police apparatus should focus on internal security in tandem with law and order. Such an approach, he asserted, would complement the central government’s initiatives.

Pawan Kalyan also recalled his visit to Kakinada in November last year, where he investigated the illegal transportation of ration rice. During discussions with revenue, police, and port officials, he had expressed concern that the absence of an effective coastal surveillance system could jeopardize internal security. He noted that the Ministry of Home Affairs had responded positively to his concerns, and central intelligence agencies had taken immediate follow-up action.
