Shock for liquor consumers in Telangana as alcohol prices increase
The Telangana government has delivered another blow to liquor consumers by announcing a hike in alcohol prices. Following a substantial increase in beer prices earlier, the state has now raised the prices of other alcoholic beverages.
According to the revised rates issued by the State Excise Department, the price of a quarter bottle of liquor has been increased by ₹10, a half bottle by ₹20, and a full bottle by ₹40. These changes have come into immediate effect as per official orders.
This price hike is expected to generate an additional monthly revenue of ₹160 crore for the state treasury. However, it is noteworthy that the government has chosen not to increase the price of cheap liquor.
