Kohli Reveals Most Challenging Bowlers Across T20, ODI, and Test Formats
Virat Kohli, one of the finest cricketers of this generation, has revealed the names of the most challenging bowlers he faced across the three formats of international cricket. In a recent interview, the star Indian batter—renowned for his dominance in all formats—shared candid insights about the opponents who tested his skills the most throughout his career.
Kohli played a crucial role in India's victory at the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Following this triumph, he announced his retirement from international T20s. Reflecting on his journey in the shortest format of the game, Kohli named West Indies mystery spinner Sunil Narine as the toughest bowler he had faced. “Sunil Narine has troubled me for years, and even today, I find it difficult to face his bowling,” said Virat Kohli.
Turning to Test cricket, Kohli identified former England pacer James Anderson as the most formidable opponent he had encountered in the red-ball format. He emphasized the unique challenge Anderson posed, particularly on English pitches, saying, “In red-ball cricket, especially in England, James Anderson has been the most difficult bowler I’ve faced.”
For One Day Internationals, Kohli mentioned two names. He said that Sri Lanka’s Lasith Malinga was one of the most difficult pace bowlers he encountered during the early phase of his career. Alongside Malinga, he also named England’s Adil Rashid as the most challenging spinner he has faced in the 50-over format. “Adil Rashid has been one of the toughest spinners to face in ODIs,” Kohli stated.
