YS Sharmila Arrested in Vijayawada, Sent to Hyderabad by Police via Flight
Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President YS Sharmila was arrested by Vijayawada police and sent to Hyderabad from Gannavaram Airport. This development followed her announcement that she would visit Uddandarayunipalem, the site where Prime Minister Narendra Modi had laid the foundation stone. Tensions also escalated near the Congress office, Andhra Ratna Bhavan, in Vijayawada, prompting police action to detain YS Sharmila.

YS Sharmila had planned to tour the capital region on Wednesday, leading police to initially place her under house arrest in Gannavaram. Condemning the stance of the state government and the police, she later reached the Congress office and began a protest along with other party leaders.

Amid this protest, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers stormed the APCC office, alleging that YS Sharmila had made inappropriate remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The BJP cadres pelted eggs at the party office and raised slogans against her, demanding an immediate apology for her comments. In response, Congress leaders and activists also raised slogans against the BJP, resulting in a heated exchange between the two groups.

As the situation grew increasingly tense, the police intervened to disperse both factions. BJP workers attempting to enter the Congress office were detained by police, restoring order to the scene. Subsequently, the police arrested YS Sharmila and escorted her to Gannavaram Airport. From there, she was sent to Hyderabad by flight.
