Dance Show Judge Shekhar Master Breaks Silence on Viral Rumours
Prominent choreographer Shekhar Master has responded to rumours circulating on social media that allege a personal relationship between him and folk dancer Janu Liri, the winner of a recent dance show in which he served as a judge.
Speculation intensified after Shekhar Master praised Janu Liri extensively during the show, leading to widespread rumours suggesting an alleged connection between the two. Some online posts even claimed that Janu Liri secured the winner's position because of Shekhar Master’s support.
Addressing these rumours, Shekhar Master clarified that there is no relationship whatsoever between him and Janu Liri. He dismissed the ongoing social media speculation and stated, “When I serve as a judge on a show, I do so with utmost integrity.” He emphasized that dancers participate in such shows with great hopes, and that his focus remains solely on recognizing and rewarding talent.
“She danced more uniquely than everyone else—that’s what I felt,” said Shekhar Master. He added that his encouragement was purely based on her evident talent, and that he would extend the same support to any performer who showcases such skill. “She won because of her hard work in dancing; I had no role in it,” he stated.
Shekhar Master also mentioned that similar rumours had surfaced about him in the past, but he chose to ignore them. He remarked that he supports only deserving talent in dance shows, which is why organizers continue to invite him to serve as a judge.
