Oppo Launches Special Phone for Gig Workers and Daily Wage Earners
Oppo, a leading smartphone manufacturer, has launched its new F29 series smartphones in India, targeting local consumers. The company stated that the devices were specifically engineered to meet the needs of gig workers constantly on the move, laborers working in tough environments, and small business owners. The F29 and F29 Pro models have been released as part of this new series.

According to Oppo, the F29 series smartphones are equipped with IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings, making them resistant to water and dust. The devices are designed to withstand exposure to 18 common liquids such as rain, water, tea, and coffee. Additionally, the company explained that these phones have been certified by SGS (Société Générale de Surveillance) to meet MIL-STD-810H-2022 military-grade standards, having endured 14 rigorous tests. These include extreme temperatures, dust, vibrations, and salt mist, ensuring reliable performance in harsh conditions.

To protect the device from accidental drops, Oppo incorporated '360° Armor Body' technology, which helps absorb shocks from all directions. The company emphasized that this feature would be particularly beneficial for delivery partners, drivers, and field professionals.

Beyond durability, the F29 series also focuses on battery life and connectivity. The F29 model comes with a large 6500mAh battery, while the F29 Pro is equipped with a 6000mAh battery, catering to users who require all-day usage. The devices also support super-fast charging technology. For improved connectivity in low-signal environments such as basements, elevators, and remote areas, Oppo introduced a new technology called 'Hunter Antenna Architecture,' which the company claims can boost signal strength by up to 300%.

Oppo explained that the phones were specially designed to support the needs and challenges faced by workers in India's rapidly growing gig economy, which currently comprises 7.7 million individuals and is expected to reach 23.5 million by 2030. Despite their rugged features and large batteries, the devices retain a slim and attractive design, the company added.

To mark the launch, Oppo has also initiated a campaign titled #ZindagiKeRealHeroes to recognize the contributions of delivery riders, gig workers, and service providers across India.
