Special NIA Court Grants 18 Days Custody of Tahawwur Rana

Tahawwur Rana, one of the primary accused in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, has been remanded to 18 days of custody by a special National Investigation Agency (NIA) court. The decision was issued after Rana was produced before the Patiala House Court in Delhi by NIA officials on the previous night.

Representing the NIA, senior advocate Dayan Krishnan and public prosecutor Narender Mann presented arguments in court. On behalf of Tahawwur Rana, advocate Piyush Sachdeva from the Delhi Legal Services Authority put forth his defense.

The NIA requested 20 days of custodial interrogation of Rana. After hearing arguments from both sides, Special Judge Chanderjeet Singh of the NIA court granted 18 days of custody to the agency.
