CM Chandrababu Vows Strict Action Against Lawbreakers in Andhra Pradesh
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu asserted that his government would take strict action against anyone disturbing law and order in the state. Addressing the Legislative Assembly, he emphasized that the administration is committed to ensuring public safety, particularly for women.
Chandrababu Naidu stated that the government had introduced the SHAKTI app to enhance women's security and warned of stringent action against those who harass women. He accused the previous administration of failing to maintain law and order, leading to a situation where people were unable to move freely due to safety concerns.
The Chief Minister alleged that the rise in drug and ganja consumption in the state was a result of negligence by the former government. To counter this, the EAGLE system has been introduced to tackle the drug menace, and the government is determined to eradicate ganja cultivation. He assured that alternative employment opportunities would be provided to those currently engaged in ganja farming. Additionally, he announced the establishment of special agencies along state borders to curb drug trafficking.
Chandrababu Naidu warned that individuals posting obscene or offensive content on social media would face strict action. He criticized the previous administration for engaging in personal attacks against women for political gains. He also noted that the current Assembly discussions were productive and highlighted the government's efforts to curb terrorism and promote communal harmony.
Regarding land protection, the Chief Minister stated that the government was introducing a Land Grabbing Prohibition Act to safeguard the lands of the poor. He accused the previous rulers of being involved in land mafia activities, alleging that they had encroached upon government and poor people’s lands.
To enhance public safety, he announced that drone patrolling and CCTV surveillance would be intensified, particularly at night, and that 26 cyber security stations were being established.
Referring to the murder of Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy, Chandrababu Naidu asserted that political cover for crimes would not be tolerated. He declared that in his 45-year political career, he had never resorted to violent politics. He emphasized that it was the responsibility of MLAs to oversee law and order in their constituencies and that the police force would be kept alert.
Highlighting women’s safety, he reiterated that the SHAKTI app would be highly beneficial, allowing women in distress to seek immediate police assistance. He accused the previous government of deceiving the public with the DISHA app, which he claimed failed to ensure women's security. He also warned that police officers failing to act on women's safety concerns would face consequences.
