Fugitive IPL Founder Lalit Modi Set to Lose Vanuatu Citizenship
Fugitive Indian Premier League (IPL) founder Lalit Modi is set to have his Vanuatu passport revoked. Vanuatu Prime Minister Jotham Napat on Monday directed officials to cancel the citizenship granted to Modi, alleging that he was using it to evade extradition to India.

Lalit Modi recently applied to surrender his Indian passport at the Indian High Commission in London. However, with Vanuatu now moving to cancel his citizenship, his legal status remains uncertain.

The former IPL chief has been accused of financial irregularities amounting to crores of rupees during his tenure, following which he fled India. Since then, investigative agencies have been pursuing him, and efforts to bring him back to India have intensified.

Amid these developments, the Vanuatu government has decided to revoke Modi’s citizenship. Prime Minister Napat confirmed that the Citizenship Commission has been instructed to cancel his Vanuatu passport immediately.
