Sharmila Slams YSRCP Over Polavaram Project Height Reduction

Andhra Pradesh Congress President Y. S. Sharmila strongly criticized the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), alleging that it lacks the moral right to speak about the Polavaram project. She questioned whether the YSRCP had merely "grazed like donkeys" during its five years in power.

Sharmila accused YSRCP of agreeing to reduce the Polavaram project height from 45.72 meters to 41.15 meters and demanded accountability. "Was it not you who approved this reduction? Did you not write letters to the Prime Minister requesting funds for a height of 41.15 meters?" she asked.

She also targeted the ruling coalition, accusing it of misleading the public and spreading falsehoods in the state assembly. "If the central government has approved a budget of ₹30,436 crore for a height of 41.15 meters, then how can the coalition government claim in the assembly that the project will be built at 45.72 meters? Are these not lies?" Sharmila questioned.

Furthermore, she challenged the government to issue an official statement with the central government if the height reduction claim was false.
