Pakistan Enhances Security with 12,000 Personnel for ICC Champions Trophy 2025
Pakistan is set to host an International Cricket Council (ICC) event after nearly 29 years, with the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. The country has been making extensive preparations for the tournament, ensuring both infrastructure and security are well in place. Major stadiums in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi have undergone renovations ahead of the matches.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has also taken significant security measures for the event. A total of 12,000 security personnel have been deployed, including 18 senior officers, 54 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), 135 inspectors, 1,200 upper subordinates, and 10,556 constables. Additionally, 200 female officers have been assigned to security duties.
To facilitate the smooth movement of players and officials, Pakistan has arranged nine special chartered flights, which will operate between Lahore, Karachi, and Islamabad.
The ICC Champions Trophy, which begins today, will continue until March 9. This edition of the tournament follows a hybrid model, with eight teams competing in two groups. While matches will be held in both Pakistan and Dubai, the Indian cricket team will play all its matches in Dubai. The opening match features Pakistan facing New Zealand in Karachi.
