Gas cylinders-laden lorry catches fire on Kurnool-Bangalore highway
Kurnool, March 19, 2015: A speeding lorry carrying 400 gas cylinders caught fire at Enugumarri village on Kurnool- Bangalore highway this morning. The driver and cleaner of the lorry jumped from the vehicle and ran to safety when the cylinders started exploding one by one. Vehicles plying on the national highway stopped two to three kilometers on either side of the spot with fear. Drivers of the vehicles plying on the road abandoned their vehicles and ran away with fear of risking their lives. People of the nearby Enugumarri village also left their houses as the walls started developing cracks due to the impact of explosion of the cylinders. They have taken shelter at a nearby hillock.
