Mohan Babu Granted Temporary Relief by Supreme Court
Following the filing of the case, Mohan Babu sought anticipatory bail from the Telangana High Court. However, the High Court rejected his plea, prompting the actor to approach the Supreme Court for relief.
After hearing the petition, the Supreme Court issued notices to the respondents, instructing them to file a counter within three weeks. The next hearing has been scheduled for four weeks later. Meanwhile, the court directed the police not to take any coercive action against Mohan Babu until then, providing him with temporary relief.
During the arguments, senior counsel Mukul Rohatgi, representing Mohan Babu, argued that the incident occurred amid tensions stemming from a family dispute involving the actor’s son. Rohatgi emphasized that Mohan Babu had no malicious intent and acted in the heat of the moment. He further added that the actor had publicly apologized to the journalist and expressed willingness to offer compensation. Additionally, Rohatgi pointed out that the media representatives had trespassed into the premises of Mohan Babu’s residence.
In response to the counsel’s argument, the Supreme Court questioned, "Even if they entered the house, does that justify attacking the journalist?" This remark highlighted the court’s concern about the nature of the incident.
