Rohit Sharma’s Another Flop Show as Captain; Hitman Registers Unwanted Record
Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma’s struggles continued during the Australian tour. In the Boxing Day Test being played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Rohit disappointed with the bat once again. After scoring just 3 runs in the first innings, he was dismissed for 9 runs in the second innings. Rohit fell to Australian captain Pat Cummins, handing a catch to Mitchell Marsh.

This marked the sixth instance of Rohit Sharma being dismissed by Pat Cummins in Test cricket, setting an unwanted record. Rohit now holds the dubious distinction of being the captain most frequently dismissed by an opposing team’s captain in the history of Test cricket.

Captains Who Were Dismissed Most by Rival Captains in Tests:

6 times – Rohit Sharma by Pat Cummins
5 times – Ted Dexter by Richie Benaud
5 times – Sunil Gavaskar by Imran Khan
4 times – Gulabrai Ramchand by Richie Benaud
4 times – Clive Lloyd by Kapil Dev
4 times – Peter May by Richie Benaud

Meanwhile, India, chasing a target of 340 runs in the fourth Test at Melbourne, had a shaky start. The team lost three crucial wickets for just 33 runs, with Rohit Sharma (9), Virat Kohli (5), and KL Rahul (duck) all failing to make an impact.

However, young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal and wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant steadied the innings. Jaiswal scored a composed half-century and remained unbeaten on 63, while Pant played responsibly and is currently at 28 not out. At the end of 53 overs, India stood at 112/3, with Jaiswal and Pant holding the fort.
