Chandrababu Naidu's Tenure Sparks Amaravati Railway Development

Since Nara Chandrababu Naidu resumed his duties as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, the state has seen rapid developments. Previously neglected and almost forgotten, Amaravati has once again come into the spotlight as the capital of Andhra Pradesh. A significant development has now taken place.

A railway line proposal for Amaravati was shelved after the YSR Congress Party came to power. Now, with the Telugu Desam Party-led coalition back in power, the Railway Department has responded swiftly. A gazette notification has been issued for land acquisition for the Amaravati railway line. Previously, the railway had imposed numerous conditions, requiring the state to contribute its share and bear the land acquisition costs. Notably, the current notification does not impose any such conditions. The railway department has decided to construct the railway line to Amaravati entirely with its own funds. The notification identifies the project as a special one for land acquisition between Errupalem-Amaravati-Namburu.

A new line will start from Errupalem on the Vijayawada-Hyderabad line and merge at Namburu on the Guntur-Vijayawada line, passing through Amaravati. There will be a total of nine stations: Peddapuram, Chinnaravupalem, Gottumukkala, Paritala, Kothapeta, Vaddamanu, Amaravati, Tadikonda, and Kopparavuru. Among these, Peddapuram, Paritala, Amaravati, and Kopparavuru will be major stations, with Amaravati serving as the main station. As part of this line, a three-kilometer bridge over the Krishna River will be constructed between Kothapeta and Vaddamanu.
