Purandeswari Highlights Chandrababu's Request for Special Package, Not Special Status

The President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Andhra Pradesh, Purandeswari, stated that the issue of Special Status for Andhra Pradesh has been concluded. She mentioned that there is no need for Special Status as the former Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu had requested a special package instead. She urged the TDP, Congress, and YSRCP to recognize this fact. Purandeswari criticized the state governments for their mistakes and for blaming the Central Government. These remarks were made during her visit to the West Godavari district.

Purandeswari announced that preparations for the 2024 elections have begun, highlighting that before BJP came to power, the country was plagued with scams, but after BJP took over, schemes for welfare were introduced. She claimed that the BJP has provided a corruption-free administration over the last ten years.

She criticized the destructive governance in Andhra Pradesh, condemning the destruction of temples and idols within them. Purandeswari compared the state to a "headless torso," implying that Andhra Pradesh has been left without a proper capital. She credited the BJP for considering Amaravati as the capital of Andhra Pradesh and for sanctioning funds and roads. She also mentioned that after granting national status to the Polavaram project, the Central Government has been bearing all the expenses.
