Maoists oppose Obama visit, call for Dandakaranya bandh
Bastar, Jan 23, 2015: Maoists , who are opposing the visit of US President Barack Obama to India as Chief Guest for Republic Day celebrations, have given a call for Dandakaranya Bandh on Jan 26. Maoist posters and banners asking Obama to go back have sprung up across Dandakaranya .They have also distributed pamphlets through out the area opposing the visit of Obama. In Press Releases sent to various TV channels and news papers in Chattisgarh, Maoists have opposed allowing FDI in insurance, banking, mining, defence, retail, education and telecom sectors. They said they are considering Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Barack Obama as their enemies number 1. "Obama is representing a capitalist country and Prime Minister Modi has joined hands with him. Both are our enemies," they said in a pamphlet . Meanwhile, senior police officials have said that Maoists have been resorting to these tactics in opposing the visit of Barack Obama in order to make their presence felt and existence known to the country.
