Gali Janardhan Reddy’s release: Police tighten security around central jail

Bengaluru, Jan 22: Bengaluru Police Commissioner M.N. Reddi clamped down prohibitory orders around half a kilometer radius of the Parappana Agrahara Central Prison here from Thursday afternoon till midnight Friday in view of the likely release of former Karnataka minister and mining baron Gali Janardhana Reddy, sources said. The state intelligence agency is said to have reported that a large crowd of Reddy's followers were expected to gather at the central jail to celebrate the leader's release creating a possible law and order situation. Hence, the clamp down, the sources said. In his order, the police commissioner is said to have banned all kinds of processions, gatherings, banners, placards and bursting of crackers within the prohibited area, sources said.
