'Maha' twist: Eknath Shinde to be sworn in as Chief Minister of Maharashtra today

Mumbai: Shiv Sena rebel MLA Eknath Shinde will be sworn in as the 20th Chief Minister of Maharashtra on Thursday at 7.30 pm. Until now, everyone assumed that BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis would be the CM and Eknath Shinde the Deputy CM. But, Fadnavis announced that Eknath Shinde would be sworn in as Maharashtra CM giving a ‘Maha twist’. .

A big twist has taken place in Maharashtra politics, which has been in turmoil for the past several days. The BJP has changed its strategy fearing the backlash of destabilising the government. But, it has decided to support the Maharashtra government outside. Unexpectedly, the Maharashtra government will be headed by rebel MLA Eknath Shinde.

Earlier, Eknath Shinde arrived in Mumbai from Goa on a special flight on Thursday afternoon. After arriving in the city, Eknath Shinde first met BJP leader and former CM Devendra Fadnavis. Later, the two met Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari at the Raj Bhavan. The formation of a government in the state was discussed.
