Tension at OU campus over contract jobs

Hyderabad, Nov 17: High tension prevailed as Osmania University Joint Action Committee (OU JAC) has given a call for a 'Chalo Assembly' and a siege of the Telangana Assembly on Monday. Police blocked all the routes leading to Osmania University in order to prevent students from taking out the rally from the campus and heading towards the assembly. Police and task force personnel have been deployed at NCC gate and six other gates of the university campus. At NCC gate, a three-layered security has been reinforced with barricades. For the past few months, OU JAC has intensified its agitation against the decision of the Telangana state government to regularise contract employees. The Osmania University students, who were the vanguard of the Telangana movement, have now turned against the TRS ever since it made its decision to regularise contract workers. The students are demanding that the Government should immediately appoint the public service commission and withdraw the decision to regularise contract the contract employees.
