Power problems in Telangana will be solved soon: Bandaru
Hyderabad, May.2: Union Minister of State for Labor and Employment Bandaru Dattatraya has said he would discuss about the problems related to power sector in Telangana State with Union Power Minister Piyush Goyal soon for their solution.
Dattatraya held a review meeting with officials from the State and Central power sectors on the Power situation in Telangana here on Tuesday.
Dattatraya said nearly 2500 MW power was needed to Telangana State. He directed the officials to ensure the supply of 12 hours of power supply to the farmers. The Union Minister also informed that centre allotted Rs. 1107 crores towards providing electricity to 5.65 lakh houses in 9150 villages with a subsidy of Rs. 3000 per each house. He also said that Rural Electrification Corporation sanctioned Rs. 30, 000 crores to Telangana in the last two years. Dattatreya also said that through ‘Deen Dayal Upadhyay Scheme’, the centre helping the state for the supply of quality power. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision is to provide 24 hour power supply to every house, he said. The Minister also said that there is a need to build separate lines for agriculture and non-agriculture purposes.
Dattatreya also said that HMWSB, GHMC, R&B and Electricity departments at the time of constructing power projects. He suggested that a Minister should supervise the coordination work. The Minister said that there is a need to construct underground power supply system in Hyderabad replacing the existing system. Officials, who were present at the review meeting, informed the Minister that Rs. 350 crores for this project.
Dattatreya informed that Rs. 1543 cores sanctioned to TS NPDCL for Implementation of Energy Efficiency HVDS projects for saving of energy on account of agriculture pump sets in Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Khammam and Warangal districts. And Rs. 898 cores sanctioned to TS TRANSCO for Jaipur Power Transmission Scheme covering Adilabad, Karimnagar, Medak and Rangareddy districts. He also said that Rs. 1317 cores sanctioned to TS TRANSCO for Erection of 400/200 kV sub-station at Suryapet and Associated 400 kV. 220 kV and 132 kV transmission network in Nalgonda, Rangareddy and Khammam districts
