Browser-based beta stage Skype version launched by Microsoft

Washington, Nov 15: Microsoft Inc on Saturday announced the launching of a browser-based version of Skype that will permit users to make video and audio Skype calls on any system. Skype said a new beta web app will be released slowly to a small number of existing and new users. A worldwide release is expected to take place in the next few months. The software giant said the beta version will allow users to log into their Skype accounts from any browsers, including Chrome, Safari, Internet Explorer and Firefox. Skype said it is working with the Internet Explorer team to develop a plugin-free WebRTC version of Skype for Web.
