Congress leader slams T budget

Hyderabad, Nov 5: Leaders of the Telangana unit of the Congress party Wednesday slammed the maiden budget of the state, which was presented by the Finance Minister Etela Rajender. Speaking to media persons, Telangana Congress working president Uttam Kumar Reddy termed the madien budget as a great disappointment for the people of Telangana. Uttam Kumar said MLAs of his party had boycotted the legislative assembly as the budget did not present any measures to lessen the misery of the farmers in the state. Over 350 farmers had committed suicide in the five months since the state came into being on June 2 this year. According to farm activists, delayed and deficit rains played havoc in the state. In addition to this, banks had not given any fresh loans to the farmers. Also, poor power supply this season had pushed farmers further into despair. Later, speaking to the media persons, Congress Legislative party leader Jana Reddy said the budget was not only disappointing but was not reflecting the aspirations of the people of Telangana.
