Amartya Sen criticises PM Modi over currency ban
November 30, 2016: Nobel laureate and Bharat Ratna Amatya Sen vehemently criticised PM Modi's demonetisation decision. Speaking to a media channel he termed the ban move as 'Authoritarian and Despotic'. Dr.Sen told that around 6% and certainly less than 10% of black money is held in currency form. Demonetisation will work as a big disruptor to the economy. This Nobel laureate said "everyone want something to be done related to black money. But we should remember that the move has to be intelligent as well as humane. Which has not happened now."
