AP ranks No. 1 in Energy Efficiency Implementation Readiness

New Delhi /Hyderabad, Nov.4: In a major milestone in the area of Energy Efficiency in the State, the World Bank has ranked the Sunrise State of Andhra Pradesh as No. 1 in the area of “Energy Efficiency Implementation Readiness, which will be a boon to the State in getting Global recognition for further expediting the energy efficiency programs on a fast track mode. The World Bank felt that the political will, visionary leadership and result-oriented approach of the State Administration headed by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu helped the State in achieving the first Rank apart from various proactive measures taken up in the State, with a overall score of 42.01 followed by Rajasthan (41.89), Karnataka (39.34), Maharastra (39.29) etc. The World Bank was impressed with the effective implementation of Energy Efficiency and Energy Conservation activities in AP State, with an assessed achievement of around 650 MW of avoided capacity and about 1500 MU of Annual Energy Savings within a span of two years by adopting emerging LED technology in Domestic and Urban Street Lighting Sectors. The AP Chief Minister has become a champion in energy efficiency, which will go a long way in protecting the interest of future generations and the way shown by the AP in this noble cause was worth following by other States, said Subash Chandra Garg, Executive Director, World Bank, while launching the report during the ongoing International Conference on Advancing the Global Transition to Energy Efficiency as the “First Fuel” with Demand-Side Energy Efficiency (DSEE), in New Delhi organized by the World Bank & Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL)-India during November 4 and 5.
