No clarity yet on total number of districts

Hyderabad, Oct.7: The State Cabinet, which met here today, approved the reorganization of districts and did not clarify on the total number of districts to be formed from Dasara festival and also gave nod to set up 119 new Gurukul Schools in the State to provide better quality education for the next academic year. The Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was learnt to have given the nod to launch 31 districts as planned earlier though its number is to be announced soon. Talking to media persons after the Cabinet meeting, Deputy Chief Ministers Kadiam Srihari and Mahmood Ali, Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy told media persons that the reorganization of the districts has been approved and the total number of districts will be announced later. It is learnt that the final notification will be released in a day or two which will have the total number of districts. They said the Cabinet has decided to go in for an ordinance for amendment in Telangana District Formation Act of 1974 to form Telangana Reorganisation Act. The cabinet also decided to set up four new Police Commissionerates and to appoint IAS and IPS officials for new districts after releasing a notification on the reorganisation of the districts. The government has given a notification for only 27 districts and said to have given green signal to include four districts such as Sircilla, Jangaon, Gadwal and Asifabad followed by a high-power committee submitted by its chairman K Keshav Rao and members, including ministers Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Jogu Ramanna and G Jagadish Reddy. They said it was also decided to set up a BC Commission and start 90 Gurukul Schools for the Minorities, to set up a tribunal to resolve the issues about illegal structures under GHMC purview. Other decisions include allocation of 15 acres to Hetero ***** Company in Khanapet in Serilingampally Mandal to set up world class Cancer Care Hospital on the lines of Basava Tharakam Cancer Trust, unified service rules in urban local bodies, to give exemption of transport tax to autos and agriculture tractors, appoint staff for the new districts based on the requirement, set up 23 new police sub-divisions, 28 new circles, 92 police stations, take HUDCO loans to complete 24,648 houses in GHMC purview, call MROs as Tahsildars, provide free bus journey facility to 321 families of police martyrs.
