Centre decided to conduct study on "Outreach Methodology" of AP in implementing EE&EC programs
Hyderabad, Sept. 21: With the Energy Department being successful in involving public participation in making the LED Lighting and other Energy Efficiency and Energy Conservation (EE&EC) programs in the State under the guidance of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, the Government of India has decided to depute a High-Level Team to study at Micro-Level the "Outreach Methodology" adopted by Andhra Pradesh Government in implementing EE&EC programs and ensuring its benefits reached the end consumers.
Disclosing these details, Ajay Jain, Principal Secretary, Energy, I&I, CRDA, GoAP who has received a communication in this regard from Union Ministry of Power, appraised the CM that, the GoI was impressed with the report of “Local Circles”, one of India’s leading Community Social Media network which conducted a survey on outreach of LED scheme among public in more than 20 states & 56 major cities, revealed that AP is leading in the country in creating awareness among public & successful implementation of LED lighting programs, while other major states including Delhi, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal etc., are far-lagging behind in this prestigious Program of Govt. of India. While 52% of people in AP are having awareness about the LED program implementation, 42% people in Gujarat, 33% people in Delhi, only 2-3% people in Tamil Nadu, West Bengal are aware of scheme, disclosed the survey.
The Government of India, which has taken up LED lighting programme with a target to replace 77 Crore conventional bulbs in the domestic sector and another 3.5 Crore ordinary street lights with LED’s in the country by 2018-19, has decided to produce a documentary on implementation of these schemes in various states has decided to depute a three- member High level team with senior officials of Ministry of Power , BEE (Bureau of Energy Efficiency) & EESL (Energy Efficiency Services Ltd) to study at micro-level, The methods adopted for involving common public at large extent. Actual energy savings accrued through EE&EC programs, Benefits being enjoyed by the end consumers and ) Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy policy of GoAP .
The High level team will visit AP on September 22 and is expected to have a detailed discussion in this regard with Chief Secretary, GoAP and also interact with C.M. for his valuable suggestions.
Expressing satisfaction over the achievement, the C.M has directed the Energy Dept, to take all necessary measures for achieving 100% public awareness on EE&EC schemes. He instructed to formulate Short term & Long term plans for further enhancement of implementation of EE&EC programs for the overall economic development of the state and stake holders apart from protection of environment. He also directed to implement a fool-proof mechanism to ensure that the fruits of Energy conservation schemes reach the end consumers, said Ajay Jain.
As per the directions of C.M, the Energy and MA&UD depts. have geared up to establish a Control Centre for all street lights in AP at Vijayawada which would help in remote monitoring of all street light projects including energy consumption, fault detection and resolution. This would be the first such centre anywhere in the country, and is going to be inaugurated by C.M. on September 28, said Principal Secretary.
