Danger signal one sounded for Godavari

While the people are gearing up for the Krishna pushkarams starting on august 12, the Godavari end-pushkarem bathing is going on. People in the Godavari districts of Andhra and northern districts of Telangana are going in for pushkaram-end bathing in these districts. The authorities have, however, warned the Godavari-bound people to be on guard, as the river is receiving flood waters. Danger signal 1 has been sounded in the Godavari districts. Owing to the Godavari being in spate, the authorities have closed down five bathing ghats in the two districts. The authorities have advised caution for the people bathing in the Godavari. At Kaleshwaram in Adilabad, the Godavari current is rapid. Owing to the bend in the river from the Latur side, the river flows rapidly at Kaleshwaram point. People believe there are five different speeds with which the waters run in the river at the spot. The bathing area there is narrow and enclosed by boats at Kaleshwaram.
