High Court strikes down VCs' appointments in TS

The Hyderabad High Court on Thursday rejected the appointment of nine vice-chancellors by the Telangana Government on the ground that the appointments were not done on the basis of qualifications. The High Court bench headed by the Chief Justice delivered its judgement today. The GOs made in connection with the vice-chancellors appointments were also scrapped. The court, however, gave four weeks stay on the cancellation of the appointments following an appeal by the Advocate-General Ramakrishna Reddy. The appointments, which were long due, were done in a hurry as the JAC organised a meeting in Osmania University and expressed a concern over the lack of appointments of vice-chancellors.
