India sends 110 delegates to China's 3000 for INNOPROM

Indian Ambassador to the Russian Federation Pankaj Saran on Monday called on the three Chief Ministers -- N Chandrababu Naidu, Devendra Fadnavis, and Vasundhara Raje --- of Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Rajasthan respectively, who are heading their delegations to visit Yekaterinburg to take part in INNOPROM 2016. Union Minister of Commerce & Industry Nirmala Sitharaman was present. India is the partner country for this year’s trade fair. Pankaj Saran gave a presentation on the Russian Economic and Political scene. He said India is important to Russia politically and economically. Later, the delegation from India moved to the opening ceremony of INNOPROM 2016. A film describing this year’s theme of INNOPROM 2016, ‘Industry and Internet’ was screened. Denis Manturov, Russian Trade & Industry Minister, welcomed the gathering. He said India is represented by 110 industrial establishments. He said some 3,000 delegates from China were present to take part in this year’s INNOPROM 2016. Participation from Italy was also significant. Later, Nirmala Sitharaman addressed the gathering on behalf of the partner country. She extended a warm welcome on behalf of the Government of India. By being a partner country, India is underlining a deep relationship with Russia, she added. She told the gathering that in spite of global slowdown India has registered a growth rate of 7.6 percent under the able leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. `We hope to achieve more growth rate this year.' Stating that Indian investments in Russia amount to eight billion, the Russian investment in India is three billion, Seetharaman said it could grow much more. She also invited Russian business persons to come to India and showcase their products. Later, Evgeny Kuivashev, Governor of Sverdlovsk Region, invited the delegates to visit his province. He recollected the words of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, who had said, “If you want to change the world, you be that change”. He further said there are a lot of opportunities in the sectors such as Pharma, IT technology, Minerals and so on for investments. He wished that INNOPROM remains a memorable event. “My province should remain in your memory,” he concluded. Some 500 speakers will participate in 150 events in this year’s INNOPROM. Finance, urbanization, IT and manufacturing are the four forums for this year’s INNOPROM.
