UN report admits genocide of Yazidis

The Islamic State in Iraq and Syria is committing genocide by murder and torture of Yazidis, the United Nations has said in a forthright manner in Geneva. The UN, which compiled a report in this regard, had conducted 45 interviews with the survivors. Islamist militants, including foreign fighters, had been systematically capturing Yazidis since August 2014 and seeking to erase their identity. The ISIS gave the option to Yazidi men of conversion to Islam or death, raping girls as young as nine and selling Yazidi women as slaves, and drafting boys to fight. One woman told the UN that she was sold 15 times, and did not recall all ISIS fighters who had bought and sold her. The ISIS was selling the women online. Yazidi men who refused to convert were killed. Boys as young as 12 were drafted. The Yazidis number 700,000 in Northern Iraq around Sinjar. `The genocide of the Yazidis is ongoing,' the report concluded.
