TSRTC strike call makes CMO active to prevent it

In the wake of JAC of employees unions of TSRTC giving a strike call from June 23 in support of their demands, the Government is planning a holding operation to preempt it. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is planning to hold a key meeting in about three days to address the demands. The trade union JAC sought the government to release encashment bonds for 2012-14 years, arrears of DA for 2016 and salaries for the period of Sakala Janula Samme that was held for 42 days during statehood struggle and other demands. The JAC also said that they would defer the strike if the government met their demands. The Telangana government is planning to sort out the issues. In a release here on Thursday, the Chief Minister’s Office said that to transform the loss-making TSRTC into profit-making one, Chandrasekhar Rao would be holding a key meeting with officials in two to three days. The Chief Minister directed Transport Minister Mahender Reddy and RTC Chairman S Satyanarayana and Managing Director GV Ramana Rao to call a high-level meeting to discuss the issues in detail. All the officials, including the executive director, regional managers, top officials, depot managers and others should join the meeting with all details. The meeting will take stock of the RTC functioning, new buses required, number of buses existing, occupancy ratio and other issues in detail. After the state's formation, the Chief Minister is now evincing keen interest to discuss the issues of the TSRTC to find an amicable solution. It is likely that the Chief Minister will address a meeting on June 13.
