She Teams trap 376 offenders

Hyderabad, June 4: Sixty SHE TEAMS are doing their silent decoy operations in the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate to protect women from eve-teasing. This year the She Teams registered 376 cases, including 309 petty cases and 67 FIRs, Cyberabad SHE TEAMS caught 29 offenders in the last two weeks. All the offenders have been counselled by Professional Counsellors of Bhumika Women’s Collective, in collaboration with Cyberabad Police and SCSC (Society for Cyberabad Security Council). All the offenders are being counselled along with their parents at Crime Against Women Cell, SHE TEAMS Office, CPO, Gachibowli. Among these 29 offenders, five are on remand. Most of them are around 20 years old and are students. A few of them are around 35 years old. During last two weeks, 24 cases have been reported in which 30 respondents booked. On June 4, counseling was held for 24 offenders while five are in jail. Most of the eve-teasers are repenting about their mischievous act and realizing the necessity of respecting women after an hour of the counselling session. The majority of them are leaving the counselling hall of CAW Cell with water filled eyes with clear goals of their lives.
