Sensex gains 130 points, Coal India up 3%
What began as a rough day turned out to be impressive as markets bounced back in the closing hours of Thursday, with Sensex rising 130 points and Coal India gaining 3%.
Investors were cautious in the morning with the crucial Opec meet in Vienna not to yield any surprises.
The benchmark Sensex settled at 26,843.14, gaining 0.48%.
Coal India was followed by Tata Steel gaining 2.97%, Axis bank 2.22%, Hindustan Unilever 2.01% and Hero MotoCorp (1.83%).
Wipro was the biggest loser at 2.22%, SunPharma down 1.27%, Lupin, ITC and Bajaj Auto also lost some.
In the BSE shares, 1259 companies profited and 1361 companies registered loss. Market cap today was 99,96,406 crore.
