Kurnool District Collector gets RDS work by Karnataka halted
Telangana Major Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao on Friday appealed to his Karnataka counterpart, Patil, not to stop the work on the Rajolibanda diversion scheme, which was to be the lifeline of the people in this region.
The work on the Karnataka side was stopped following Kurnool district Collector Vijay Mohan writing a letter to the Karnataka authorities that the work might create a law and order situation in AP.
While Karnataka started modernising work on Rajolibanda a week days ago, the Kurnool District Collector wrote the letter and directed the police to stop the work. The work was stopped. The farmers there said that since their lands were on a lower plane, the work being taken up on an elevation was bound to affect them. The flow of water would be affected.
Harish Rao argued that under the Bachawat award irrigation projects of Telangana should be expedited.
