Telangana govt raises working days for workers

Hyderabad, May 18: Panchayat Raj Minister Jupally Krishna Rao today declared that the State government has cancelled the condition of providing only 5000 working days under MNREGS and raised more working days instead. Participating in a Grama Jyothi program at Gantavelli village, Jupally inspected works related to dumping yard under EGS at Farukhnagar in Lingareddyguda in Mahbubnagar district. The minister said officials should provide more working days to the workers. Interacting with the workers, he said works worth Rs 2500 crore were being offered to the workers during 2016 as against they provided works worth Rs 1700 crore last year. Krishna Rao directed that the officials should see that at least 50 per cent of card holders get 100 days of work under MNRGES. The workers should work for 8 hours to get Rs 194 a day, he said and assured to provide all facilities like tents, drinking water and material for works. The government is for their welfare providing more working days by scrapping the condition of 5000 working days norm, he said, adding that the government secured some 40 lakh mobile numbers of the workers who can find their working days, wages and related information by calling the toll-free number 1800 200 1001. The officials were asked to provide 100 days of work to peasants when agricultural works are on. He announced Rs 25 lakh for Guntalavelli village which stood ideal by getting all facilities and asked other villages to emulate for individual, dig rain catch pits, toilets, avoid open defecation and keep clean their environment. The farmers can benefit from poly house cultivation for horticulture crops through subsidies and the government is implementing schemes residential schools for SC, ST, Minority and double bedroom houses for the poor. Kalyana Lakshmi will offer Rs 51000 financial assistance to the poor girls towards marriage, drinking water through Mission Bhagiratha and lakes revival under Mission Kakatiya he said. The TRS Government is implementing many schemes in just two years while the previous governments failed to do so in six decades, he added.
