Congress urges action against TRS ministers for poll violations

Hyderabad, May 11: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) has urged the Chief Electoral Officer, Telangana to take necessary action against the Ministers and TRS party leaders and officials, who were violating the election code in Palair bye-election to be held on May 16. TPCC Official Spokesperson B Kamalakar Rao and TPCC Intellectual Cell & Official Spokesperson A Shyam Mohan submitted a memorandum to the Chief Electoral Officer here on Wednesday. They stated in the letter that the ruling TRS party was distributing huge amount of cash to purchase and influence voters in the Palair constituency in Khammam district. At night, cash was distributed from a house owned by former MLA V Chander Rao, in his mango garden in Bodabandlagudem hamlet in Vallabhapuram gram panchayat in Mothe mandal in Nalgonda district. This above hamlet was on the border of Palair constituency but physically located in Nalgonda district. The cash was brought in huge quantities in the night to above house in the mango garden and cash was given to the village level leaders of Palair constituency, they alleged. They alleged that Roads and Buildings Minister and TRS candidate in Palair bye-election Thummala Nageshwara Rao was threatening voters that he will come to know the results cast for him booth-wise and in each EVM and there will be consequences for the same. They mentioned in the letter that Khammam intelligence DSP Bala Kishan was moving around with and virtually campaigning for the ruling party in the Palair bye-elections. They urged the Electoral Officer to initiate action against the DSP saying that they attached news papers clippings where he was sharing a dais with prominent leaders of Khammam in a private program. DSP should be immediately shifted to a far off place till elections were completed, the asked the Electoral officer.
