Kollywood's Sarat Kumar caught with lump sum by EC

Prominent Kollywood actor Sarat Kumar was caught with a lump sum in connection with the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections on Saturday. Sarat Kumar is president of the All-India Makkal Katchi Party, which has an alliance with the ruling AIADMK party. He is contesting the election from the Tiruchendur constituency. Sarat Kumar was caught with Rs 9 lakhs, while the election authorities were conducting a checking operation in the constituency. Since it was a fairly big amount, the authorities seized it and credited it to the State treasury. The Electoral Code is already in operation in the State. So far, Rs 80 crore had been seized in Tamil Nadu during checking in the various constituencies.
