Air chief Marshal SP Tyagi, the middleman in the AgustaWestland VVIP chopper deal, had become so likable to the Italian manufacturers of the VVIP choppers that since he was doing everything to their bidding, they named him `Giulia' or gorgeous girl. If the manufacturers wanted the heights that the helicopters could fly reduced to suit their fabrication needs, Giulia was there to get it done and make it acceptable to the pliable and understanding Indian authorities. As they found that they could sell just about anything through Giulia in Delhi, the Italian makers became so fond of the gorgeous girl that they found no other code name for Air Chief Marshal SP Tyagi than Giulia. This Giulia with her guiles could just about do anything in the corridors of power in Delhi. Not that the powers that be in Delhi were particular about specifications. They also wanted payoffs, throwing specifications to the winds. At one place, the manufacturers noted with concern, `Giulia is worried about the Italian investigation.' Since the Gorgeous Girl was in the regular pay of the Italian manufacturers, naturally she was worried.
