Jagan wonders why no leader is asking for Special Status

YS Jaganmohan Reddy, YCP leader, on Saturday bemaoned that not a single State leader was demanding Special Category Status for Andhra Pradesh. Talking to newsmen in Hyderabad, Jagan asked who was responsible for the denial of SCS for AP? He lashed out at the Central and State governments in this regard. He said that in the previous Lok Sabha, the TDP and the BJP had under the auspices of the Congress brought about the split in the combined AP. While doing so, the parties wanted the SCS not for 5 years but 10 years. But today not one of these party leaders was raising the demand for implementing the SCS. The TDP, BJP and the Congress had gone to town at that time, saying that the SCS was the main reassurance for splitting AP. The same BJP leaders were today saying that even the planning body NITI thought that the SCS was not necessary for AP. Stating that AP was not attracting industries because of the lack of the SCS, the YCP leader said the status would bring in industries because of the entailing tax exemptions. The SCS would also generate lakhs of jobs for the people of the State. Transport subsidy would be available. There will be far-reaching benefits in the industrial and power sectors. Also, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu would not have to go round seeking investment.
